Mary Mattingly loved her small farm where she could provide custom care for her own horses but she didn't love Michigan winters without an indoor! After years of boarding her horses out over the winters and hauling to lessons all summer, Mary knew there had to be a better way. The Paddock Equestrian Center was the answer to her prayers. With the new, larger facility she is able to provide her horses with consistent, quality care while continuing to train year round with The Paddock's resident trainer, Austin Devlin.
Both owners, Mary and husband Mike, come from medical backgrounds. He is an ER physician and Mary started at John Hopkins as a step down nurse then spent 10 years in emergency medicine when the family moved to Michigan. After years in the medical field Mary is passionate about providing the best environment to keep her horses healthy and happy.
Since purchasing the farm in 2013, many improvements have been made to the facility including improving the air quality, ventilation and safety by moving the hay storage to a new, separate hay barn. The Mattinglys have also added heat to the tackroom, washrack and grooming stall and have plans to add an automatic fly control system in 2014.
Mary is excited to be able to share her dream with other dressage riders who are looking for quality care and classical training in a first-class facility. Large grass pastures, 47 rolling acres with access to wooded trails, full sized indoor, exceptional training and meticulous care all in the heart of Oakland County - you can have it all!
